Residential options for seniors in Charleswood are virtually non-existent. The shortage of adequate and appropriate housing has impacted mobility for elderly residents, including those within the Charleswood 55+ community. This has also made it difficult for many to live and age-in-place in the community that they have spent most of their lives.
The proposed residential development at 363-365 Oakdale Drive will include a variety of rental suites including adaptable and universally accessible suites that will address the housing shortage for the 55+ community as well as address design features intended to support resident health. This includes accessibility, functionality and creative use of space to promote an active, harmonious, integrated, accommodating and healthy environment where residents can age in place.
